A Gainesville pastor has attempted to shock the world into rebellion by burning the Koran in Gainesville Florida over the upcoming Sept 11th weekend. Dumb was the first word that came to mind and then in my head I saw a lynching and Nazis dancing around burning books and artifacts during the holocaust. Then I wondered why we allow this level of ignorance to go unpunished in general. The Gainesville Muslim Community has been open minded enough to merely view this as a publicity stunt for the man to push his upcoming book but many do see this as a new stereotype racist attack. FBI and other law enforcement have warned him not to proceed but Pastor Terry Jones seems poised to carry out his plot and has made it known that he will be armed enough to proceed if he faces any opposition.
